This unique tool holds wire coils so that they can be efficiently cut into jump rings. Made of stainless steel, the Coil Cutting Pliers feature a jaw which firmly but gently grasps coils ranging from 4.5-9.0mm outside diameter. There is a slit in the jaws which allow the user to quickly cut multiple jump rings with a jewelers saw. Pliers are box-jointed with pvc comfort grips, and 7" long.
This is a great tool if you just need to cut a small pile of jump rings. I found it very easy and comfortable to use. The pin at the bottom is for bracing the pliers on your work table or for inserting into your Bench Pin for stabilization.

I just purchased these pliers. At first, they weren't working well. They didn't hold the coil securely because of the pin on the bottom. So I removed the pin., then dremeled off the remaining solder. Still not great. The rings were being pushed up by the saw. So I turned my saw blade around so it cut on the downstroke. That was the solution. Now I'm satisfied.
I find these pliers difficult to use. I secured the pin in my vice which really helped. May improve with practice.
Finally, something to solve making jump rings that isn’t pricy! Very happy with this product. I did make the modification of removing the pin. Heated it and pulled the pin when the glue/solder? let go. For me the jaws need to be held securely so I use my vice. I also tape the coils as this gives a little cousioning as the rings cut better if held as secure as possible. I also keep them on the wood dowel I made the coil on and cut them that way.
Keep fiddling with it until you adapt it to your use. Very happy with this.
I, too, was having trouble using this tool. But I gave it one more try and voila! it got easier. I think it's going to be useful as I practice more and more.
