The Riveting stake makes creating rivets easy! It is also handy when you are trying to rivet a piece that includes a ball rivet.

Riveting Using a Balled Headpin
If you are riveting using a balled headpin and want to keep the round ball intact while riveting, you can place the ball rivet on a thin piece of leather over the riveting stake. The ball should be cradled by one of the open holes and padded by the leather. As you rivet, the ball will remain intact.

Create a small ball on the end of a piece of 16-gauge wire using a butane torch. The size of the ball will directly relate to the size of the rivet-head.
step 3
The wire should fit snugly in the hole, but still have room to move. Again the balled head of the wire should not be too large.
step 5
The finished rivet is now ready to use.
