Design Stamps are a bit tricky. I highly recommend you practice on some cheap metal before diving into your Sterling Silver or Gold Filled. Click here to purchase a piece of sheet to practice on.
For best results with Design Stamps, make sure there is NO padding under your Bench Block with the exception of a Sandbag, make sure you are working on a stable table, and use a hammer which weighs at least 16 ounces. We recommed a Brass Head Mallet. Feel free to hit the stamp more than once, but hold the stamp steady, making sure you don't shift at all between hits. The more confident you are with the hammer and the strength behind it, the better your impression will be.

We have tested the pattern on a scrap of cooper to see how the stamp looks but have not yet used it on a piece of jewelry. The dots in the pattern are very small, shallow and close together. They do not make a very good impression in the metal and require a hard blow in order to show up. The hard blow causes the metal to turn up around the edges of the pattern requiring you to have to flatten it on a bench block leaving makes that need to be removed. The concept is great but the design needs some "tweaking" by the manufacturer in order to make this a GREAT stamp.
This is a tougher stamp to get exact/perfect but if you're like me and love imperfections and the handmade look then this is a great stamp for you!
