Like an idiot, I spent all morning slogging my way through the morass of the Internet to find a straightforward explanation of using stick or non- paste soldering techniques. I could have saved myself a lot of frustration if I'd noticed this particular class before today. I have just finished the design and "construction" of a pair of mixed metal earrings and I'm at the solder the jump rings stage. The're brass, and the only other "yellow" colored solder I have on hand is gold filled paste and copper wire solder in stick form. Well a bangle is just a big jump ring in essence, and not wanting to use up my gold solder, I have to use my stick solder. (Drumroll) Now I have a technique to work with!!! (I'm a newbie) Thanks for a great class.

Excellent as always. I don't think there is a bad class in any of the Beaducation line-up.

I paid for a silver class at the local college, and this tutorial was far superior !! I have made a couple of bangles following the instructions after purchasing the nylon jaw bending pliers which worked a treat! I can't wait for the miter cutting vice to return to stock, as that would save a lot of filing getting those ends perfectly flush. Thank you beaducation for these fantastic tutorials.

I like the class for bangles and rings, however, you do not work harden the plan copper bangle or the flat stamped bangle. This would leave the soft and bendable.
Please add a step on how you work harden them.
Beaducation Replied:

Thanks for your feedback! You make a great point. We found that shaping the bangle on the steel bracelet mandrel with a non-marring mallet, or shaping by hand with the Nylon Bracelet Pliers, work-hardens the bangle enough to keep its shape because we used a thick gauged material in this lesson.   If a piece needed to be further work hardened, these same steps could be repeated.

Love this video! Am actually making oval bangles since they fit me better and don't bang on my desk like the round ones do (have a regular 8-5 job that pays for the jewelry making supplies!). Thanks to Lisa for figuring out I was a little shy with my torch flame! Once again, as usual, Beaducation rocks ???????? !

I'd never watched this class before but it is outstanding and glad that I did. Aisha is very methodical and gives good instructions and tips as well as what you can do if you don't have all tools & equipment. I enjoyed the tip on how to portion out the flux and keep from drying out and becoming contaminated. Great detail on the variety of ways to finish these bangles. I enjoy those extra finishing tips and look forward to incorporating into my own work!!! She's a wonderful teacher, as are all the Beaducation staff.
