    MATERIALS
  • Various gauges of wire - 24 and 22 gauge are good to start with for your coiling wire. It is best to practice with copper (cheap and readily available).
  • wire 20 gauge or thicker - to be used as your core wire (to coil around). It is helpful if this wire is harder than your coiling wire. If practicing with a copper wire, you may want to use a steel or Sterling wire as your core wire.
