This Modern Square mandrel is used for holding shaping and straightening rings. The rounded corner square is more finger shaped and offers a more natural and comfortable fit. This mandrel tapers from 11mm to 22mm.
Attention FUSERS!!!....these mandrels are great way to add some new shapes to your fused rings. Use them to make finger rings or rings for links. Since I got these, I have been making tons of shaped rings and really cool linked chains.
Use a plastic mallet to hammer the ring directly on this mandrel. Using this hammer will shape the ring without totally flattening the wire. To shape and flatten the ring, use a chasing hammer. I really like using the chasing hammer on these mandrels because it gives the rings a really defined look. When making links, I then take them off the mandrel and hammer them a bit on top (on a steel bench block) to clean up the front and back.
